Happy Fourth of July!

Independence day ranks right up there with Christmas for me. Okay, maybe not Christmas, but Thanksgiving. It's right up there with some of the best holidays. It's even better when it falls on a Saturday. We've made it tradition to go down to Corpus Christi to Nana & Papaw's house (Boyd's mom Debra & step-dad Terry) for the 4th. I just figured something out after living in San Antonio for a little while. San Antonians call the Corpus Christi, Port Aransas, Rockport area "the coast." It's like Houstonians call Galveston "the beach" or Bostonians calling Cape Cod "the cape?"(am I right Lynn?) It only took me three years figure it out! I'm a quick learner. Anyhoo, we went to the coast and it was so fun!
This year Boyd's sister Shannon & her kiddo Christopher joined us.

We arrived at lunch time Friday & dropped the boat right into the water. After Nana's famous fried enchiladas (yes, fried and yes, I did.), we zipped out the canals over to our favorite spot on the beach in the ski basin. First, the kids love this, the out of shape adults, not so much. I'm not sure what to call it- how about boogie-board pulling? On a sad note, we lost that boogie board that day. It was a good board. It lived with us since Josh's first trip to the beach (yes, Galveston) at age two. It served many untraditional roles in our family. It was not just a water toy, it worked well as a riding toy behind the 4-wheeler. RIP boogie board. We enjoy our memories of you and we will always have these pictures. Amen.

Will made a friend. Her name is Lane. She was only 2. Her daddy was a little crazy. Nice guy, but he kept taking her wakeboarding. He held her with on hand & held the rope with the other. It scared me to death, but she seemed to love it! Brave little chica.

I have a ton more pictures to post from the weekend, but I must go break up a wedgy-fight. Oh yes, I'm serious.
