Girls' Night Out!

Last night, some girlfriends of mine and I went out! Doesn't happen very often, but we decided that we needed to plan to get together once a month for an evening away from kids & men. A couple of us admitted that we had not seen a non-animated movie in a long time. Since my husband doesn't get excited about a movie unless it involves a werewolf, an alien, or a vampire, we decided a chick flick was in order.

Okay, so we decided a month ago to go, but being that we're girls, it took about 18 facebook messages to hammer out the details. If we were guys, it would take 2 message & they would go like this:
message: "hey, movies, Thursday 8:20."
reply: "cool."
But not these chicks. We went back and forth & threw out a bunch of "we could do this or that...go here or there...see this movie or that movie." It always ended with,"if you want."
We were all trying not to hurt feelings or be too bossy. No one wanted to take too much control over the situation. It was a very careful exchange since we are all hormone filled, over-stressed moms of small kids.
We finally came to the decision (somehow) to go to The Palladium movie theatre. It isn't a run of the mill theatre, oh no it's not. The Palladium has a bar in it. Oh yes, it does. You can buy special adult drink and take them in with you to see your movie of choice. Our choice this time was The Proposal with Sandra Bullock & Ryan Reynolds. It was a great chick flick. I told Boyd when I got home, "It was great, you would have hated it. The people really were people. And they didn't become something other than people."
