I'm not really sure how to start posting again. It feels weird to go on with my usual happy pictures of the boys, etc. So I will start by writing about Dad in healthier times & throw in some great pictures of him. Then I'll eventually get back to the regularly scheduled program.

My dad's funeral service was beautiful. All the flowers & plants were so nice. My whole family went back into the sanctuary after the service and reception and read the cards on them. They were so lovely. We then took them to Mom's house & divided the plants up among my sisters & brother. I will do my best to keep mine alive. I don't have my dad's green thumb unfortunately, but I will try in his honor.

My mom & I got in her bed Saturday night & talked about how much we hated the day & loved it at the same time. It was so great to hear all the nice things that people said about Dad; to see so many people-some we haven't seen in years! Thank you so much to all of you who participated and came to the service. Thank you for the flowers, plants & cards too. It was overwhelming.

My mom asked that a memorial be set up in Dad's name to benefit the Russian Orphanage Mission where my dad traveled & worked several times over the years. We have already received several thousand dollars to be had delivered when the group returns to Tomsk, Russia at Christmas. My dad would be so thrilled & proud that they will receive these gifts in his name! I can see him smiling in heaven! If you're interested you can send a check to First United Methodist Church 800 Main Street, Humble, TX 77338. On the memo line put Tomsk Orphanage Mission-Dave Grant.

Here is a favorite picture of my dad. He is looking at Will (14 months at the time) with total love. This picture warms my heart. I'm going to work hard at helping Justin & Will to remember him. We're going to look at pictures & talk about Poppa a lot.
