Christmas Program and Happy Camping?
I know I've been in a slump... So let's just ignore the fact that it's been over a month since I've made my last appearance on here & move forward. Before we move on forward, I'd like to acknowledge some important events that have occurred in my absence.

First...Will performed in his first Christmas Program at School! He did....great? Ummm...When he wasn't busy trying to catch the feathers that were flying around from the dove's costumes. He did some motions and a little singing. He had an amazing "Baaaaaa" for the sheep. You could hear that above everyone else! It's always the teacher's kid..... Which reminds me...

When Josh was three, I was teaching middle school at a private school. When it was time for the Christmas performance the music teacher put him front and center. I was so excited and proud. Once the sanctuary was full, he decided that it wasn't gonna happen. After cleaning out his nostrils, he put his fingers in his ears and turned his back to the audience for the whole 25 minute performance. Needless to say, I've never been more proud of my boy. I wish I had pictures of THAT to share. I think I was too busy hiding in the sound booth to take any.

So...Will was not supposed to be squating down so gracefully. He then decided to steal the bells that belonged to the other children and play. (BTW-Boyd took these pictures. The angels and doves are in my class & I was leading the motions.)

He finally put the bells down and did what he was supposed to do..

Complete preciousness... (is that a word?)

Now...The next night we tried to go camping. CAMPING?! I let my dear, sweet husband know 12 years ago that camping is not something that I do. I know to you nature lovers this is going to sound lame, but I don't want to sleep outside-ever.. However, since I have three boys I thought I had to take one for Team-Lunsford.
It started out pretty well. We pitched the tent and started the fire.

I
Made a few phone calls... oops...umm...BUSTED...It was Josh's teacher on the phone. I HAD to take the call. It was very important shopping school business we had to discuss. Oh and yes, that is a Halloween table cloth in December (the only plastic one we had). And yes, we're a chip-eating family. It's a weakness we totally own.

They were so excited they got a little nutty!

The next two make me giggle.

So we did all the campy things: cooked hotdogs, roasted marshmellows, etc. Then when it got dark, (at the late hour of 8 o'clock) the kids wanted to go to bed. Weird, when we're at home 8 o'clock is "soooo early."
So we settle into the tent.

So there is one very important detail that I have forgotten to mention. The forcast. I was supposed to be in the 20's that night! Oh yeah, you non-Texan people laugh. Go ahead... laugh all you want.  We laugh at you when you complain about the weather in the 80's or even 90's in the summertime. Wusses. It rarely freezes here; maybe three-four times a year. So anyway, my dear husband knew the forcast and brillliantly bought a propane tent heater! So smart since it has a flame and needs ventilation! Long story short, we made it until about 10:30pm. We woke the kids up and left the camping crap equiptment there and went home. Boyd and Josh volunteered to go back the next morning to retrieve our things. I didn't say it, but I did tell him so.
Camping is just one thing that I'm going to have to learn to enjoy being a "Boy-Mom." Maybe I will try it again some day when it's warmer of course.

As for the performance: LOL! But isn't it so much more entertaining when they don't "do what they are supposed to"
As for the camping: Oh you are such a good mom. I refuse to tent camp!
