When FISH Attack!
I almost didn't take my camera with me to the lake today. It was going to be the same old same old day at the lake. We have tons of pictures of us tubing, jumping from cliffs, etc. Don't get me wrong. It's always so fun and beautiful, but how many more pictures of all the greatness of Canyon Lake do I need? (see first picture) But something in my head told me otherwise. It said, "take your camera, today is going to be different."
It all started out great! We anchored at our favorite spot in the cove. Someone else was a little close to "our spot" so we were a little annoyed, but we worked through it and got close to "our spot." Here's how we do it. I take a rope & jumping; swim back to this big rock formation that the kids have named Island 4 (that's another story for another day.) Boyd drops anchor off the front and I pull us back and tie off. We then remain still without swinging around hitting other boats, rocks, people, etc. All is grand in boat land. Well, yesterday was different. Our friends arrived, tied off to us & the kids jumped in. Remember Island 4? All the kids (8 of them) were climbing on it when we heard Luke yell...SNAKE!! The kid jump in the water & swim back to the boat safely. Boyd gets a net...yes, a net...what the heck is he going to do with a net you're asking yourself. I had the same question in my mind. Being totally terrified of snakes...I didn't ask. He swims over there & he sees it. Boyd said it was 5 inch diameter 6-8 feet long. THE THING WAS HUGE! We got our rope off of there quickly and went to find another "spot." I'm going to mourn the loss of "our spot." It took us 2 years to find it & get our system down. Now you're wondering, what is this about fish attacking?

At our new "spot" we were having a great time, swimming, kids playing around, etc. Not as great as the old one, but it will have to work until we figure something else out. Here's what happened. I was in the water with Will. He was on a float & I was holding on to the float. Then I felt it. Something biting my back. Really biting! I scream a little. (trying not to make that big of a deal) But I knew something was just not right. I got out of the water & Boyd said I was bleeding. A fish bit me! Seriously... how weird is that? A stupid fish bit me! I guess I'd rather have a fish bite me than a snake, if I had to choose. The darn hole in my back bled for hours! (it's much bigger in real life)

Tim's brother Pat, his wife Erin & three kids are here from South Carolina. Boyd gave Tim & Pat a beatin' on the tube. Are you sore today boys?
Okay, so here is the kicker to the day... when we pulled the boat out of the water, I went back to put the straps on the boat & noticed that someone had hit our trailer & busted the light out & bent the frame. Oh boy.. was someone mad! (it wasn't me) See I have sympathy since I'm sort of new at pulling a trailer. I'm sure it was the wife who was driving and she is probably also new to pulling a trailer & she didn't make a wide enough turn into the parking spot next to us. They did leave us their names stuck to the windshield. It won't be that big of a deal to fix. But did I mention that somebody was really, really mad?!!!
