The Waterslide has sure come in handy!
Josh's big gift (Read- only)this year was a Nintendo Wii. I had the pleasure of learning a BIG lesson about in demand game systems. First of all, when buying one, start WELL in advance of your loved one's birthday,Christmas, special occasion, etc. - NOT THE NIGHT BEFORE. (I didn't know how hard these things would be to find- they came out 6 months ago!!!) Anyway- after calling every store in San Antonio, and Kingwood & enlisting the help of others in other towns (Shannon in Lake Charles, etc...) I hit e-bay. I knew it probably wasn't going to be the most fiscally conservative way to go about finding the stupid thing. But after hearing the guy at Best Buy say, "we had two three months ago." And the guy at Gamestop say, "call back every morning when we open and maybe we'll have one in a few weeks." The lure of e-bay grew stronger in my head. After all he is my first born son and it was all he wanted for his birthday... SO... I paid TOO much!! $115 more than the store charges. But it gets better. The next day... which happened to be my sweet, little, blonde haired, blue eyed boy's birthday I had to tell him his present was being shipped, wouldn't be here for 3 days. Wait... it gets better... my dear husband ( who was not happy about my purchase to begin with) happened to travel through a small town (Gonzalez, TX) on that lovely day in June. He felt compelled to stop at the local Wal Mart Store to make some sort of meaningful purchase I'm sure. While he was there, (I'm sure you can see where this is going) he felt further compelled to peruse the electronics section. Yes... they did. $115 cheaper AND on his actual birthday. But Josh had to wait and I had to pay more.
So here's my lesson: Check small towns! Or ask Boyd to when he's out calling on them. :-)
By the way, this game system is worth the money ( maybe not the extra $115). We all have had so much fun with it. The night of his party, all the adults stayed and had a bowling tournament. It's actually very physical too. We heard that nursing homes are buying them to get seniors more active. It is really fun. Too bad the games are so expensive.
Boyd and Tim are boxing. They were actually sweating- (laughing too)
