 We Have Sleep Issues...
It's no secret we have sleeping issues in our house. We royally messed up our oldest as a baby. We were new parents and didn't know about Babywise & The Baby Whisperer. All we knew is that we wanted to sleep & not hear him cry. So we let him sleep with us. To this day 10 YEARS LATER, he won't sleep alone. It's not a weakness on his part, it was and still is our softness. I'm sure he'd do it if we made him...or maybe not.
Last month Josh turned TEN! So we thought that maybe he would like to move off the top bunk in the room he shares with is two little brothers. He said okay. Not a strong yes, more like a wishy-washy maybe.
Perfect! Will is getting a little too big for the race car toddler bed next to the bunk beds. The bunk beds unstack to make two, cute twin beds. The room we were moving him into has a queen. This is going to work!
So...Boyd took the toddler bed and put it in the car to go to Goodwill. We unstacked the beds and rearranged them a few times. (They weren't light...) Then we call the kids in to see the rooms. We were ready for them to be excited as we admired our HARD work. Not. Gonna. Happen. Justin & Will both started crying; Josh was silent and visibly unhappy. Boyd started turning a little red because his blood pressure started rising...
What are soft parents supposed to do? We sent them back outside, re-stacked the bunk beds, got the toddler bed out of the car, remade the beds and all was right with the world...until 3am.
Will came downstairs half crying and saying I'm sorry, I'm sorry, It was an accident! I'm all...what? Apparently he got up on the top bunk to sleep with Josh and proceeded to have an accident. In other words, he peed all over Josh in Josh's bed.  I helped them change and Will got back into his own bed. Josh climbed into bed with Justin. They all woke up before seven the next morning like nothing ever happened...
I swear I didn't make this up.
