 Oink...
So I was telling Boyd on Sunday how I haven't blogged in a while & needed some material for it. We decided that it was time to bust out the halloween/fall decorations & let the kids fly kites while we were putting them up outside. I would take pictures and cuteness for the blog would materialize. We got some of the house decorated and got the kite in the air when I looked at Justin to take his picture and he didn't look too good. He was burning up & started coughing. I knew it was coming.... Justin's best buddy at school tested positive for swine flu on Friday. So, I wasted no time and took him straight to the urgent care clinic.
What do ya know? Not only does he have the swine flu, he has an ear infection as well. Even more convienent, pediatric tamiflu is in short supply around here (and everywhere else I hear). I had to find a pharmacy that would compound it for me- on a Sunday. My insurance won't cover compounded pharmaceuticals (probably because Boyd works for a pharmaceutical company) and I had pay top dollar for the little bottle of gold.
We've been home from work and school all week. I thought he was going to be able to go back today, but this morning his stomach was hurting. I'm sure the tummy trouble is from the medications, but I didn't want to take a chance.
I've been keeping Will home from school too because about 30 minutes before I realized Justin was sick, I caught the two of them hiding with a single can of Dr. Pepper they had snatched from their D.P. lovin' dad. So far, Will is fine. I'm scared he's going to come down with it just when Justin is better. Sickness-tag. They always do that. Can you imagine how crazy the sickness-tag game must be in the Duggar household (you know, the family with 18 (almost 19 kids)?! I'd die.
I'm not worried about Josh. He already the flu this summer.
Not really the kind of blog material I was hoping for this week. Maybe we'll fly kites again take picture next weekend if the game of tag doesn't begin.

 Fall Baseball '09
I totally lied when I said I would blog on Fridays. When I set a deadline for myself I just rebel against it. Lame I know. I just can't take the pressure! Just kidding. It's really not that serious. I'll do it when I can! The truth is now that I'm working... things like laundry, errands, a standing lunch date with my husband are getting in the way of my great blogging intentions. Moving on....

Baseball has begun! It's really different this year. Josh has moved up to kid-pitch ball. He's on a team of older kids who are really good. He's not seeing a whole lot of play-time yet, but he's learning so much.

They lost the first game by one point. The second game, they smoked the other team! 13-1 And (I have to brag) Josh stole home!!! We are proud of him & we're proud of his love and committment to the game and team.

Mr. Justin is playing t-ball again. If you remember last spring, he didn't want to play and then he did, then it was too late, blah, blah, blah. So I signed him up, then I didn't tell him until the day of practice so he wouldn't have time to think about it. He's loving it! Here he is with his buddy Brennan. They kind of look alike in this picture don't they? Justin is on the left with the giant batting helmut on his head.

Even though it's really time-consuming, I LOVE Baseball season. I love seeing my boys out on the field learning new skills becoming confident with them. Their smiles make the three practices a week and two games per weekend all worth it! I'm just a little worried about how we're going to do it when all three boys are playing!

 Hello! I Want a Lakehouse.
Hi! Hello! Bonjour, I've been such a bad blogger lately, but I have an excuse! I got a job! Oh I know, as if I don't have enough to do with these three little guys & a type-A man in my life... But see there is this guy named Dave Ramsey who is really convincing. Dave (if you've never heard of him) is a financial guru who teaches about living your life debt-free and achieving financial peace. We took his classes a couple of years back & then saw him at a live event in February. I can proudly say that we have not used a credit card since February and we are well on our way to being completely debt-free (except for the mortgage).  His classes are offered at many churches all over the country & his radio show is on AM every afternoon.
Our family commitment to his program has been life-changing. We no longer worry about money. We have a budget and we stick to it. We don't buy things we can't afford to pay for in cash. It takes some self-discipline at first, especially if you are used to buying what you want when you want it (like we were).  Now that we have been at it for awhile, we no longer feel the need to buy "stuff" that we just want and don't need. We are also teaching the principles to the boys. They have jobs to do & have to save for things that they want. (Josh just saved enough to buy his own laptop!) We're very proud of him! I'm dreaming of a lakehouse (which helps keep me out of Nordstrom's). Check out Dave's site here, it may just change your life too!
On to my excuse. I'm now teaching 4 year-olds at a preschool! It's a BIG change from my middle school days, but I love it! I'm surprised actually that I like it so much. My kiddos are so dang cute and the people I work with are amazing. I'm really lucky and blessed to have ended up in such a wonderful place.
It works out great because I can take  J & J to school and Mr. Will with me. Then I get done in time to pick the big boys up from school. The schedule works out Monday thru Thursday and I GET FRIDAYS OFF! So I will blog when I can (probably on Fridays) & maybe post some of the fun projects we do at school. Don't give up on me! Keep checkin' back in. Get ready...Baseball season is about to start! Go Reds (Josh) & Astros (Justin)!!!!
